What a great weekend we had with our newlyweds Ashley and Joseph! Their take on a nautical themed wedding was absolutely breathe taking. Light blues and gold covered our Maritime Ballroom, capturing a romantic evening for the couple. Sand dollars as table numbers, starfish as place cards, and lantern centerpieces helped create their nautical theme. Cakes for Occasions created an outstanding wedding cake with detailed seashells and starfish.

Congratulations Ashley and Joseph!

Wedding Day Checklist

With all the glitz, glamour and madness of a wedding day having a checklist to keep you prepared is a plus.
Check out these tips we found on the BridalGuide.com.

Check In With Your Vendors.

"Confirm arrangements with your pros and make sure they all have exact directions and a contact person's cell phone number," advises Julie Pryor of Pryor Events in Los Angeles.

Prepare Final Payments.

"Pay your vendors ahead of time," says Emilie Duncan of Emilie Duncan Event Planning in Columbus, Ohio. "Then you don't have to try to remember what is owed to whom on your wedding day."

 Have An "Insurance Policy."

"When your vendors collect your final payments, have each of them sign a note indicating he's received it," advises Samantha Goldberg of Gold Events Planning in New Jersey. "Then if anyone claims he wasn't paid, you will have proof that he was."

 Pack For Your Honeymoon Early.

Doing it sooner rather than later is the way to guarantee one less worry," says Pryor. "Also, make sure your passports and travel documents are in order."

Figure Out How To Get Your Gown To Your Location.

If you and your bridesmaids expect to dress at your ceremony site, don't end up trying to fit large garment bags into one car along with you and your maids. If you have a plan in place, you'll avoid stress.

Nominate A Gift Caretaker.

"Designate in advance someone to take your presents home," suggests Foss. "Give her a house key so she can have everything there for you when you return."

Don't Go Hungry!

"Pre-order breakfast delivery to your hotel room the morning of the wedding," says Souza. "Going through the day on an empty stomach isn't helpful in dealing with all the excitement."
And most of all breathe and have fun! That's what the day is all about!

Keep Your Guests Warm

It is down right cold here in Salem, MA but that doesn't stop us from talking about weddings! Planning an outdoor wedding? Here are a few tips on how to keep your guests warm as the afternoon turns into dawn and the temperature drops.

Hand Warmers
Guests will love the gesture of hand warmers as they all mix and mingle among each other. Added bonus is they can keep them as a souvenir.

Mulled Wine
What a creative treat! Hot wine that your guests can love. Its a cool twist on a winter favorite of mulled cider.

Have A Bonfire
Put a few chairs around the fire, with some mulled wine, your wedding will be the talk of the year. This laid back yet fancy feature is great for wedding photos also.

A blanket can be a savior for the women wearing dressed who wanna stay warm around the bonfire.

Rain Check

It is what every bride and groom dread on their wedding day... RAIN. You keep checking the weather and it says clear skies, that is until the week before your big day and the forecast goes gray (literally).

We found some great tips on Getwed.com to share with you guys on how to stay ahead of the weather.

Rainy wedding day tip 1: Bridal Beauty

"Now let’s be vain for a moment.  Rain is terrible for hair – even the most coiffed, hair-sprayed of manes.  Talk to your hairdresser about making your style as secure as possible for your wedding day and ask them to show your mum or bridesmaid how to recover it if it starts to look a little windswept of frizzy.  This may involve emergency supplies of hairspray, and hair straighteners close to hand. Similarly, don’t risk ruining your wedding shoes on the way to the ceremony to find yourself conscious of them later in the day, with their mud stains and wet blotches. Consider taking a pair of wellington boots which can add a really fun look to your photos if the heavens open; or perhaps buy a second pair of shoes that you can wear outside and change into later in the day. Umbrellas are a very easy contingency to have in place and there are some really pretty or unusual designs around to choose from, which could also double up as a parasol if the sun comes out."

Rainy wedding day tip 2: Think about your guests

"It’s not only yourself, your wedding dress and your groom (in that order!) that you have to worry about if the weather is wet on your wedding day. Think about your guests and how they’ll be kept warm and dry too. Perhaps provide the ushers with a supply of umbrellas to hand out to soggy guests and also ensure that they greet guests at the car where possible so they don’t get drenched on the way in to the ceremony or reception. Supplying ponchos for your guests may be taking it a tad too far, so maybe temporary walkways or gazebos are the way forward instead."

Rainy wedding day tip 3: Keep things in perspective

"The very best advice is to ensure that you keep things in perspective and enjoy the day as a whole.  Whether you are met with showers and storms or glorious sunshine on your wedding day, your day will be perfect no matter what, so long as you’re in the right mindset. It’s also worth knowing that a rainy wedding day is actually considered lucky in some cultures. Similarly, every time it rains after your big day, it will be a nice reminder of the happiest day of your life – especially if there’s a rainbow!"
